The Inspo Board: December 2025
Voice of Billy Porter: “Category is RESTFUL REALNESS”
Note: Digital Collage. The middle of the collage reads: Inspo Board December Edition <3.
As I sit here stuck on my couch after 5 grueling days of cold symptoms kicking my ass waiting for my thai food to be delivered to me - I consider, I reflect, I acknowledge. I consider how lucky I am to be able to order food right now - leaving the house is the last thing I would like to do right now, I am so cold, so tired, so achey. And yet, I need to eat. I reflect on the love, kindness and care so many people have shown me over the last few days - I am grateful to be surrounded and held by beautiful souls who actually care about me and my wellbeing. I am grateful for the amount of people who remind me to rest, who encourage me to rest, who lovingly yell at me to rest. I acknowledge that this ass-kicking of a sickness is hitting me at the peak of winter when I was pushing through instead of slowing down. I mean, we live in a world where we have bills, we’re told to hustle, we have to do 80 million things excellently or we will not be “taken seriously” (what does that even mean!?) - there is so much pressure to show up on one’s A-game level at all times. It’s exhausting. It’s dumb. It’s unfair. It’s impossible. And yet, we move - in one way or another - we do the little dance that we need to do to survive. Sometimes though, the universe humbles me - lovingly, of course. Sometimes I hit a wall - I get sick, flare-up, burnout. If balance is an active process, I must teeter too far to recognize when I need to balance back out. I am a Libra of course, balance is my journey in this life.
Winter reminds me to slow down.
Bears hibernate. Birds migrate. We are drawn to warmth, to slow, to nourishment.
This is a reminder that rest is good - curl up on the couch more, binge watch that show you’ve been wanting to check out, make yourself a steamy cup of spicy tea, sleep sleep sleep - rest your bones, make your friend a cozy blanket, send your loved ones a text professing your love for them, find things that make you smile, and don’t forget to crack your window open every once in awhile to get some fresh air.
Wishing you all a restful December - stay tuned for some recap posts of the things we did this year <3
