Queerly Yours

  • InnerSpace Art Therapy 352 Barton Street East Hamilton, ON, L8L 2X9 Canada (map)

This interactive collage-making activity invites participants to celebrate Asian Heritage Month by reflecting on personal experiences, cultural identities, and connections to community, while engaging critically with histories of colonization, migration, and systemic oppression. Using images, words, colors, and textures, participants will create their own individual collages that express their unique stories, perspectives, and cultural influences.

Once the individual pieces are complete, they will collaboratively be combined into a large collective collage, visually representing how diverse experiences come together to form a vibrant, interconnected community. This process highlights that no community is homogenous, and that every story contributes to the richness of shared identities.

About The Guest Facilitator:

My name is Jessica, and I use she/her and they/them pronouns. I am proud to be Chinese, and I love frogs, video games, and anime. I work as a mental health professional with St. Joseph’s Youthrive program a program led by Black, Indigenous, and Racialized folks to actively address racial trauma and systemic oppression. I’m a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW), and my approach centers community, equity, and honoring the diverse experiences of those I work with. Creating art is one of my greatest passions, and I’m deeply committed to building spaces where everyone can feel seen and valued. I’m so looking forward to meeting new faces and spending time together this Asian Heritage Month!
